Tegan Latimer’s life is perfect. Cast in a major role in popular Television drama Day of The Demon, she’s ready to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a household name.

Only she doesn’t like the script. Or the part. Or the growling animals she can hear in the shadows that follow her around but are never quite visible.
Tired of shrugging off this mounting discomfort, she seeks out a man well known for his YouTube rants concerning demons.

But finding the truth is not easy. In recent years a new religion – The First Faith – has sprung up, declaring Demons to be Exiles from Heaven, misunderstood gods, angels of light thrown out of paradise because of their love for humanity. They’re casting off their old cloven-hoofs and pitchfork image in a masterful stroke of modern rebranding.

This idea has taken root and is growing, and angry protestors deface churches and attack Christians in the name of justice for these poor, unhappy creatures whose only crime was to share the Earth with the Human Race.

Florrie Darrow has witnessed enough First Faith attacks on her Father’s Church to be increasingly wary of this new religion and its true motives. Mornings spent scrubbing insulting slogans off thirteenth-century stonework before school is nobody’s idea of fun. When Florrie inherits a macabre artefact on her eighteenth birthday, the veil is lifted and she begins to see the truths that underpin reality. Demons are not humanity’s friendly, ethereal companions. They’re malicious beings from the primordial past, full of resentment and malevolence who may change their tactics, but will never change their hatred for the Human Race.

 

Tegan and Florrie find themselves plunged into an ancient war between these nightmarish creatures and those who will forever oppose them. Even when it means persecution or death, there will always be those who fight for the salvation of the Earth, for the truth, and for the One who sits at the centre of creation and holds the universe in His hand.
