Misha Price ("Ish" to her friends) is a reasonably ordinary fourteen-year-old living in a tiny little village halfway up a mountain in Snowdonia. It’s not the most exciting place on earth, but when something happens that brands her either psychotic or dangerous or both, life quickly becomes intolerable.

Sent by her worried parents to stay with her Great-Uncle Elijah, Misha begins to learn that maybe she isn’t psychotic at all; maybe she isn’t imagining seven-foot angels or imagining demons squatting in the bodies of her innocent school-friends. Maybe these things, however incredible, are the truth. Maybe she isn’t going mad.

Richard Heath hates his life. Stuck in a miserable religious cult and dragged out by his zealous mother in all weathers to preach doomsday and Armageddon to anyone who’ll listen, Rick spends a lot of time wishing the ground would just swallow him up and desperately pretending he believes everything he’s taught, even if it does earn him the nickname Gobo – God Boy – from the kids at school.
Then he meets a girl staying with mad old Elijah Gwilym up at Lonely Farm. A girl with pretty, gold-flecked eyes who changes his life.

Both Misha and Rick learn that there is another world just beyond the one we can see; a world where the demonic kingdom rages on the earth, frantically attempting to drain every scrap of joy, peace, hope, freedom, love and compassion from the human race in its desperation to drag the world and everyone in it to hell. It’s a terrible thing to see how easily a demon can find its way into the human mind through a single, destructive thought, and how easily that mind can be shaped into something ugly and inhuman in such a short time.

But there are those who stand against this rising evil, and Misha and Rick are both born to lives of service and warfare, to fight against the growing demonic kingdom on behalf of people who have no idea such things even exist.
They’re not alone in this war; Great-uncle Elijah and his friend, the grim professor Darian Epton, are already embroiled in Misha’s life, even before she realises that there is a powerful demon claiming legal rights over her own existence. And the worst thing is, this demon, an ancient creature lurking in the welsh hills, is telling the truth
