Joan Rosen is pregnant with a Cambion, A half demon creature that will tear her apart when it’s born and bring untold evil into the world.

Life as Mavet’s consort is exhausting but leaving the Angel of Death would be unimaginable. Mavet’s jealousy is matched only by his cruelty and Martina has no way out, not even suicide. Everywhere she looks, Martina sees impossible situations and unhappy people, whether their problems are as surreal as hers or more mundane, people still hurt and lives are still ruined.

But there is an answer to impossible situations. There is always an answer, and the answer is not found in Myrddin, or in Arthur’s Avalon, or in any other clumsy human attempt to change circumstances.
